THE STORY OF PAT AND MAT

Pat and Mat, later known as That's It!, is a Czechoslovak animated series about two unskilled handymen, Pat and Mat. It was created by Lubomír Beneš and Vladimír Jiránek. The pair first appeared in 1976 in the short film The Tinkerers, which was also the pilot episode for the series.
There are two characters in the series, who are always attempting to solve one problem or another. They use various and usually unsuitable tools, which leads to even bigger problems. However, in the end, the pair always solve the problem in the most inefficient way possible.

The humour used in the stories is not an end in and of itself, but also serves as an example of having an optimistic outlook in life. Although Pat and Mat always find themselves in difficult situations, they never give up until they have solved their problem in a clever way. Their reactions to each other's mistakes are also positive – they always just shake their heads, without ever expressing even a hint of reproach. The soundtrack, composed by Petr Skoumal, is a key element in the series. The soundtrack basically consists of just a central melody and the sound of a harmonica.
